Why a rosacea laser treatment?
Do you want to reduce your rosacea ? This skin conditions is well treatable by way of laser treatment. Our skin therapists treat rosacea by way of a vein and or IPL laser. The KTP/Iridex/Yellow veinlaser is so accurate, that it only reacts with the hair veins. By the absorbtion of heat, the capillary gets hot enough for the vein walls to coagulate. When this happens, the body will get rid of the functionless coagulated veins within days. The IPL gives of pulses to the skin. The pulses treat a bigger skin surface. People are often bothered by rosacea by big plaques of redness. IPL laser therapy is also suitable for diffuse redness.
During the laser treatment
The laser treatment of rosacea can be experienced as slightly sensitive, the laser light feels like small pricks. The tip of the nose and upper lip are the most sensitive.
Before the laser treatment
It is important to not expose yourself to direct sunlight 4 weeks previous of the treatment. This means no tanning beds or tanning during holidays. You are however to walk about outside normally. If the sun is bright, it is important that you apply sufficient sun protection. For example Actinica Lotion. U are expected to come to the appointment with a clean face.
After the laser treatment
After the laser treatment of the rosacea, the therpist will give you a coolpack. After the laser therapy the skin might be slightly red and irritated. In some cases, small thin scabs can appear. These will disappear in about 10 days. It is important not to touch the scabs to prevent the formation of scar tissue. In some cases swelling can appear in the treated area, especially around the eyes. Bruising might also appear. These phenomena should be gone within a week. It is a normal reaction, because the veins are damaged. The veins will quickly disappear afterwards. Some patients are scared by the skin flaming up in the week after the treatment. This is a normal response to a laser treatment of rosacea and should not worry you. After the laser treatments, the rosacea will flame up less and less. During the treatment of Rosacea, descent UV-protection needs to be taken into account. The skin cannot be exposed to sunlight or tanning beds until a month after the treatment. Otherwise there will be a risk of pigmentation in the treated areas. We advice not visiting the sauna or gym and to not drink alcohol in the 3-4 days after the treatment. These factors might result into the veins popping open again.
The expected result
To reduce rosacea on average 3-4 treatments are necessary. Often a combination of the vein and IPL laser is advised. During the intake our skin therapists will make a personal treatment plan together with you. It gives you all the advice about the amount of treatments necessary, the aftercare and the costs.
